About

I have been creating with fibers for over 40 years in a variety of ways: fashion design, fiber sculptures, fabric art wall hangings and artquilts. I have been fortunate to have my work exhibited in the United States as well as internationally including Pakistan, Africa and Russia and published in Quilting Arts magazine, America: From the Heart and the Art in American Embassy’s collections. I am passionate about creating textile “paintings” using new and re-purposed materials, applying dyes, paints, pen and pencil, thread and manipulating surfaces to explore and express my ideas.

My Color Series Daily Designs mobile is on display at Florida Craftsmen gallery in St. Petersburg, FL. I love to share what I have learned in my explorations so I lecture, teach and have made a DVD of my simple silk dyeing techniques. My calendar of workshops and shows is at www.SilkDyes.com.

Artist Statement: Creating 3D sculptural forms and textile “paintings” using new and re-purposed materials is a passion. I see things and am compelled to create with them. Too often we become spectators of life instead of creating life. Art, for me, is the act of expressing ideas regardless of the medium and sharing them with others.

So happy you enjoyed the presentation in Orlando. Have fun with your dying. There are so many possibilities. I am doing a dyeing home studio workshop later on this month on the 25th of August. You are more than welcome to come. I think the details are on the calendar section of my blog.
